The secret to getting your ship together.
When someone asks what we do (at Grace in the Race), our canned response is that we help busy moms get their ship together; which always invites a smile.
When we go on to explain MotherShip, the response is typically, âwow, that sounds awesome, moms totally need that!âÂ
However, I specifically remember one mom responding candidly, âI donât know⌠I feel like I canât take on one more thing right now.â
We hear you, mama!
Processing her words and her initial perception of the system was important because it brought to light one of the absolute best features of MotherShip and affirmed to us that moms do indeed need this!
So, whatâs the best feature? Here it isâŚ
Using the MotherShip app/system is not something for moms to do in addition to their already heavy load, it is a means of organizing and systemizing what they are already doing in an effort to become more efficient, and less overwhelmed.
MotherShip is effective at accomplishing this effort because of two components that are woven through every aspect of the system:
- Grace
- Delegation
It should come as no surprise that Grace is at the heart of MotherShip.
We define grace as a temporary reprieve. Both of those words are pivotal to the process.
Reprieve means so many important things – a break, time-out, down-time, permission to let it go, to resetâŚ
While temporary reminds us not to linger in the above state too long.
In other words, it is imperative to give ourselves the reprieve – early and often – but once weâve reset, itâs time to forge on. Motherhood doesnât slow down and wait for us, but luckily, MotherShip keeps working in the background, always at the ready to pick us back up when weâre ready.
Let me give you an example of grace in MotherShipâŚ
Letâs say itâs been a long day. When youâre Afternoon Autopilot pops up reminding you to:
- Check-in with kids & go over schoolwork
- Think about/start dinner
- Prep for evening activities
- Put laundry away
- 5 minute home race
⌠You might look at that list and decide that the home race has to come off the list, the kids will have to put their own laundry away and the new dinner plan is cereal-for-dinner.
Boom, itâs that easy!
Didnât that feel empowering? You are the boss! MotherShip ensures that nothing falls off your plate, but YOU dictate what gets put on the plate in the first place. Itâs time to start setting realistic expectations, with grace!
That brings us to our second component: delegation.
I alluded to it just a moment ago regarding the laundry. If your kids are older than two-years-old, they can start helping out around the house.
That very statement just sent some of you into a head-spinning tizzy.
Look, weâre not suggesting you hand over full control – of anything. But think of it this way…
Weâre not raising these humans to coast through childhood and be handed a free pass to a stressless life. Thereâs work to do!
Let them in on your system and teach them how they can chip in. It will change your life and theirs for the better!
Remember, you are the boss!
MotherShip ensures that nothing falls off your plate, but YOU dictate who can do what. Lighten your load by delegating whatever can be done by someone else.
In time, you can even hook your crew up with a TickTick account of their own, and share tasks and lists. Iâm getting ahead of myself with this tip, but it was eye-opening, mind-blowing, AND game-changing for our family when we started using it so I feel compelled to share this example with youâŚ
When we travel, we utilize delegation and a master packing list (created by Grace in the Race) in TickTick. It contains a list for each family member. I update it from my device and then share each list with the respective packer. They pull up their lists on their devices and check off the items as they pack. It tremendously reduces my packing-induced stress!
MotherShip + Grace and Delegation = Efficiency & Peace of Mind
If you could benefit from a system that gives you peace of mind, get the MotherShip app and get your ship together!
