MotherShip: Yearly Missions

What is it?

Yearly Missions are the bigger projects that require our attention annually such as, but not limited to, seasonal responsibilities. They are often tasks that don’t get scheduled because we assume we’ll remember next year what we did this year… but we never do. Having these tasks as a recurring event on your calendar ensures they don’t wind up forgotten. 

It also ensures that you won’t have to count on your memory to get the project started. So often the barrier to getting these projects done is not knowing how to get started. With MotherShip, you’ll get a reminder each year along with the notes you took last year so you can jump right in and get it done!

Here’s an example: every summer we place an order for mulch and we never remember when to order, how much we need and what it costs. Now, thanks to MotherShip, on June 1st I get a reminder to order mulch with all the details from last year. I know exactly what to do and when to do it. 

The June Yearly Mission is more than just a reminder for mulch. It encompasses all of the projects relative to that time of year – mainly around your outdoor areas. The app comes programmed with a list of tasks, however, it is completely customizable so you can add/edit/delete as necessary to create Annual Missions that work for you and your family.

Why do moms need this?

In our daily, weekly and monthly tasks and routines, we address the things necessary to manage a mostly tidy and organized home and schedule. 

However, those tasks don’t address the elephant in the room…. The basement, the storage closets, the garage… the spaces that need your attention but are often daunting to tackle; and so we avoid them. We tend to avoid them because they are not crucial when you’re operating in survival mode. However, by the time we do address them they are a massive undertaking. It’s a vicious cycle!

In an effort to stop that cycle and make these bigger projects more manageable, we created Yearly Missions. There is a list for every month to help your year flow. With a monthly notification that includes lists and notes, you’ll stay ahead of the chaos.

How to use the Yearly Missions Routine

There are 12 Missions, one for each month. The goal is to work through that month’s mission over the course of the whole month. Although, in some cases, you might be able to tackle it over a weekend. These are your projects to be done on your timeline which again is entirely customizable.

These yearly projects, aka, Yearly Missions will appear in the app on the 1st of each month with a detailed list for each project and a space to add your own notes.
